Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships

The Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships support students who plan to study an accredited initial teacher education degree in Australia. They offer up to $40,000 for undergraduates and up to $20,000 for postgraduate students to help with study costs. In return, recipients commit to teaching in government schools or government-run learning settings after graduation.

Scholarships are available across five rounds from 2024 to 2028, with up to 1,000 offered each year. To be eligible you must start a full-time teaching degree in the first semester/study period of the year you apply, be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and agree to the teaching commitment.
